Crazy stunts, explosions and fights? Checked! Touches of humor and one-liners? Checked! Some story to give context? Checked! The new trailer for “The Expendables 3” (in theaters Aug. 15) is the best promotional piece yet. The action sequences and the actors look intense, plus the editing and music are just right.

The only problem is that the marketing department decided to show the last scene of the movie with the gang celebrating one more victory at a bar. No, I haven’t seen the film, but it is obvious knowing that they are putting together a new team and it is a clear reference to the last moment in the first one.

What the franchise needs is higher stakes and a bigger sense of danger and unpredictability. If we want to see stars partying and living the life we can watch E! Take a look at the latest trailer and banner below.

“In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. In order to defeat Stonebanks, Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.”
