Not many news can crash a website. Well, that is happening right now with StarWars.com after the official announcement of the new cast for “Star Wars: Episode VII”.

After months of speculations and rumors J.J. Abrams couldn’t keep this secret -we know he loves those- and shared this photo of the first table read with ‘the chosen ones’ and a brief statement.

“We are so excited to finally share the cast of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII.’ It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

Newcomers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow are joining the franchise’s veterans Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

Born in Guatemala 35 years ago and raised in Miami, Isaac has become on of the most respected and acclaimed Hispanic actors of his generation. After leaving a mark in films like “Drive,” “Body of Lies,” “Agora” and “Robin Hood,” he showcased his singing talent in the Coen Brothers’ “Inside Llewyn Davis” and was nominated for all major awards except The Oscars. Coincidentally, he shared the screen in that production with now a fellow Star Wars actor, Adam Driver:

He was very close to be the protagonist of the new “Bourne” movies, but that eventually went to Jeremy Renner.

His character will probably be the most notorious one for a Hispanic actor in a saga that hasn’t include many. As far as I know, the original trilogy had none in a credited role and Jimmy Smits was the only one in the more recent prequels.

As a fellow Latino, I have just one thing to say to him: ¡Fuerza Oscar!

“Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015. “
