Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey Network keeps adding original content to its intense and Latino flavored programming. The new series “MATADOR” (premiering on Tuesday July 15 and already renewed for a second season) is an action-packed mix of espionage and the world of sports.

Rising star Diego Luna plays the protagonist, a DEA agent asked y the CIA to infiltrate an soccer club named the LA Riot as a professional “futbol” player to investigate his owner (Alfred Molina).

I had the pleasure of speaking with Luna at a recent press day in Los Angeles. Watch the exclusive video interview below, where he talks about his Tony “Matador” Bravo, working alongside industry icons like Rodriguez, Molina, producer Roberto Orci, and more.

“MATADOR stars Tony Bravo, a DEA agent from Boyle Heights who’s recruited for a top-secret mission: investigate the LA Riot—one of the greatest soccer teams in the world—by going undercover as one of their players. Agent Bravo, nicknamed “Matador” after he takes out a top player known as “The Bull” during tryouts for the team, finds himself suddenly thrust into a clandestine world. But in balancing his dueling roles, he will be forced to confront the question of his true identity… and it is this mission which may prove to be his most dangerous.
