Oscar Issac has reached a deal to play the titular villain in the upcoming chapter of the X-Men saga, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, according to Variety.

Tom Hardy was rumored, but the role ended up going to someone that was my favorite choice for another comic-book character, Doctor Strange.

Born in Guatemala 35 years ago and raised in Miami, Isaac’s filmography includes “Drive,” “Body of Lies,” “Agora” and “Robin Hood,” “Inside Llewyn Davis,” and this year’s “A Most Violent Year,” the artist made headlines when he was confirmed to be a cast member of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Director Bryan Singer will return to helm the superhero movie set in the ’80s and based on Simon Kinberg’s script.

20th Century Fox’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will shake american theaters on May 27, 2016.
