There are entertainment journalists that, no matter how terrible the movie in question is, start their interviews by telling the filmmakers that their latest is a masterpiece. I try to be a little bit more honest. I do congratulate everyone because I actually believe that making a film and getting distribution is kind of a small miracle. But when I compliment something or someone is because I really feel that way.

A perfect example is the way I started this interview with Marisa Tomei for her new movie “Spare Parts” (now playing in theaters nationwide). The Academy Award Winner is an actress that I have always enjoyed and admired. Not just because of her interpretative talent, but also her charisma, sense of humor, warmth and beauty.

In the video below you can watch our candid conversation, where Marisa Tomei talks about her experience shooting the inspirational film, her love for musicals, and much more.

“Spare Parts”, directed by Sean McNamara, also stars George Lopez, Carlos PenaVega, Esai Morales, Jose Julian, David Del Rio, Oscar Gutierrez, Alexa PenaVega, Alessandra Rosaldo and Jamie Lee Curtis.

SPARE PARTS is a true life story about four Hispanic high school students who form a robotics club under the leadership of their school’s newest teacher, Fredi (GEORGE LOPEZ). With no experience, 800 bucks, used car parts and a dream, this rag tag team goes up against the country’s reigning robotics champion, MIT. On their journey, they learn not only how to build a robot- they learn to build a bond that will last a lifetime.
