After leaving a mark on the big screen, the new and explosive THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN arrives to home formats.

The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer, Training Day), stars Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington, Vincent D’Onofrio, Peter Sarsgaard, Vinnie Jones, Byung-hun Lee, Haley Bennett, Cam Gigandet, Ethan Hawke, and Mexican actor Manuel García-Rulfo.

I recently talked to the Hispanic rising star that plays reluctant hero “Vasquez” in the film.

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

Does it feel different to talk about a film that already played in theaters?

It’s like reliving the opening of the movie. I get messages of support personally and on social media. It is very moving. I am excited because there are some scenes that didn’t make it to the theatrical cut, for time reasons, and now people will be able to enjoy them. On top of that there is additional material like the director’s commentary, etc.

Antoine Fuqua is a tremendous director. What did you take away from working with him?

Many things. One of them is learning to relax more. Antoine is very relaxed and cool, so he gave me that extra confidence. He would say “You already got the character and this scenes. Now just do it.” That helped me not for that movie but for the project I have done since.

Did the cast and crew achieved a special level of camaraderie?

Absolutely. We spent five months living together all the time. When you shoot on location and small towns like Baton Rouge or Santa Fe. We forged a friendship that still lasts today. We regularly get in touch.

It seems that everyone in Hollywood wants to work with Haley Bennett. What’s so special about her?

She has everything: Beauty, charisma, and the personality that is required. You can see it on screen. She is a great actress and it’s a pleasure to work with. She can easily arrive to the emotions. It’s very pure and transparent. You can see her soul.

Are you optimistic that we are going to see more and more Latinos in important roles in big movies?

You can see it. I mean, Diego Luno as a protagonist in Star Wars! Gael García Bernal was nominated again for Mozart in the Jungle. There is a huge Latino audience and the world is more globalized than ever. It’s great to see that level of diversity on the big screen.
