Exclusive: Synopsis/Art for ‘Shadow Dancer’ Movie Based on Sega’s Video Game ‘Shinobi’

SHINOBI is a well known property in the video game world. After debuting as an arcade in the 80’s, SEGA adapted it to their consoles, and more recently it arrived to modern systems like the Playstation 2.

Eleven years ago news broke that a movie adaptation was coming from Mindfire Entertainment and the producers of House of the Dead. Well, ninjas are silent but if you heard nothing else since it is because the movie never happened.

At the American Film Market, taking place now in Santa Monica, I have learned that a film is now being developed by Stories LLC, a subsidiary of SEGA. Check out this concept art and the synopsis of the movie.

“Joe, a modern day NINJA and leader of SHINOBI AGENCY, a bureau established under the CIA, struggles to serve justice as a soldier and find his own identity in midst of a bloody warfare between Shinobi agents and ZEED, the notorious terrorist organization.”

That sounds interesting. Batman is in a way a modern day ninja so with a good budget this could be the beginning of an action franchise.
