I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Los Angeles facility of one of the best stunt/fight teams in Hollywood, 87Eleven Action Design (John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2), for the press day of the Atomic Blonde home-release.

After discussing the Charlize Theron actioner at length (watch that conversation here), I asked Director David Leitch and Stunt Coordinator Sam Hargrave about their upcoming superhero movies, Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War, respectively.

The fact that Hargrave (who is the Stunt and Fight Coordinator of both upcoming Avengers films) has previously worked on three previous Marvel films (Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War), either in charge of the action, or as a stunt double for Chris Evans, makes his answer even more interesting.

Here is a transcription of the exchange:

DH: What can fans expect?

Hargrave: Well, a lot of silence of my end, because Marvel is probably listening to this conversation right now.

DH: Fights! Action!

Hargrave: There will be action, and it will be spectacular. It will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen in a superhero movie, just because there is, I think, over thirty principal cast members.

Leitch: It’s crazy.

Hargrave: Talk about an ensemble piece. It’s bigger than anything that has ever been attempted before. It’s going to be awesome.

DH: But Deadpool 2 is all about quality, not quantity. Right?

Leitch: Yes! No! It’s Deadpool. It’s all about irreverence, and fun, wacky… wackiness. It’s going to be great.

As if we needed more reasons to be insanely excited about both comic-book adaptations!

DEADPOOL 2 will be released on March 2, while AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR opens on May 4, 2018.
